Locomotion Owners Add Evansville Franchise

Owners of the Chattanooga Locomotion women's football team have added a second franchise.

Ken and Tammy Hall have acquired an expansion team of the National Women's Football League (NWFL)and given it the name Evansville Express.

The Halls said they will take over the operations of the team immediately with tryouts being held this Saturday in Evansville at the Westside Nut Club Park at 1 p.m.

The Halls have named Woody Brown of Evansville as general manager and Lori Brown as director of marketing.

Tammy Hall is the General Manager/Owner of the Chattanooga Locomotion and has been at the helm of the team since its beginning in 2001. She is secretary of the Highway 58 Merchants Association and plays defensive end for the Locomotion where she was named Defensive Lineman of the Year for 2002.

Ken Hall was a defensive end for Castle Heights Military Academy and played five seasons with the semi-pro Chattanooga Cowboys and the Chattanooga Blues. He owned the Chattanooga Blues from 1993-1995.

He is an alumnus of Cumberland University in Lebanon, Tn., and Tennessee Tech University in Cookeville, where he graduated in 1983. He serves as president of the Highway 58 Merchants Association and serves on the board of directors of the Castle Heights National Alumni Association.

The Halls reside in Chattanooga, but will split their time between the two teams.

The National Women's Football League has 30 teams gearing up for its 2003 season and just recently signed a five-year TV broadcast rights deal with the new Football Network. The league's website receives almost 2 million hits per month. Most recently the league was featured on the Connie Chung Show, NBC's Today Show and Nickelodeon. The league is in its third season.

Lady Mocs Tennis Team Remains Undefeated

The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga women's tennis team remained undefeated with a 5-2 win at Murray State today. Berry Leads Chattanooga At Valentine Invitational

MURFREESBORO. --- UTC senior Chris Berry (Murfreesboro) took first in the men’s 3000 meter run at the Valentine Invitational at the Murphy Center on the campus of Middle Tennessee. Mark Phillips Was Victim In Fatal Hixson Pike Wreck

Mark Phillips, 54, was the victim in a fatal Hixson Pike wreck on Saturday afternoon. Police said the driver of the Ford F150 that went out of control and struck the Phillips vehicle was 68-year-old Warren Elliott.
