Red Bank Middle School Wins HCAC Basketball Title

Sunday, December 15, 2002

The Red Bank middle school basketball team claimed the boys HCAC basketball title Saturday night defeating Ooltewah 52-28. Red Bank finishes the season with a 15-2 record.

Red Bank, led by Mike McGowan's six first quarter points, jumped on Ooltewah in the first quarter scoring 16 points to Ooltewah's five. Red Bank could only manage eight points in the second quarter going 0 for 7 from the three point line (Red Bank was 1 for 13 from three point land with Tanner Smith hitting the lone trey), 4 for 7 inside and 0 for 2 from the free throw line.

However, this anemic output still outpaced Ooltewah by two and Red Bank took a 13-point lead into the locker room at the break.

Red Bank came out in the second half determined to not let history repeat itself. In a match up at Red Bank earlier this year, Red Bank took a 12-point lead to the locker room at the half. Ooltewah held Red Bank to nine points in the second half and just missed what would have been the game winner at the buzzer.

No repeats Saturday as Red Bank scored 14 in the third and 14 in the fourth to bring home the tournament championship.

Randy Smith: Tim Daniels’ Big Shadow

I remember the first time I ever met Tim Daniels. It was in his first season as the head football coach of the Red Bank Lions; the first of back to back 2-8 seasons. Considering he had replaced coaching legend Tom Weathers, after that second season, I came to the conclusion he wouldn’t be there much longer. Boy was I wrong!   He was a bit timid in that first interview I ... (click for more)

We Are Blessed To Have Ron Littlefield As Our Mayor - And Response (2)

Chattanooga is blessed beyond measure to have Ron Littlefield as our mayor.  It is a total travesty our city has had to endure the long frivolous battle with absolutely  no foundation other than disagreement with policy issues.  It has always been a vendetta directed personally at Mayor Littlefield which, if the "interveners" decide to appeal, will be a proven fact.   ... Roy Exum: What 17 Pills Did To Me

Ah, step into my parlor of first-hand wisdom because, in the School of Hard Knocks, there are priceless lessons that you should know before it becomes your turn to dance. Never in my life have I ever had any back problems but, in early December, I came down with what is called sciatica and I have been a miserable man ever since. There are two big nerves that sprout out of the ... (click for more)
