To celebrate the peak of the five planet alignment on Sunday, Jack Pitkin of the UTC Jones Observatory and members of the Barnard Astronomical Society will move new telescopes to the middle of the Walnut Street Bridge, for better observation of the western sky.
"Since we are looking at the planets, the effects of light pollution should be minimal. We will be using some of the telescopes made available through the Lupton Renaissance Fund," said Mr. Pitkin.
Setup will begin at 7:30 p.m., with best viewing at 8 p.m., and the telescopes will be available for viewing until about 9:30 p.m.
The event will be held weather permitting, and will be cancelled if it rains or the skies are overcast.
