BASF today presented the Chattanooga-Hamilton County Rescue Service with a $1,000 “Helping Make Communities Better” grant to be used to upgrade an air compressor truck that replenishes self-contained breathing apparatus for firemen and hazardous material teams.
The donation continues BASF’s 25-year partnership with the local volunteer emergency response organization.
Founded in 1937, Chattanooga-Hamilton County Rescue Service is one of the oldest organizations of its kind in the United States. Its 100 volunteers serve in a variety of emergency rescue situations, including fires, extrications, and cave, cliff and water rescues.
“Our working relationship with BASF has been exceptional,” said Chuck Hall, Chief of the Chattanooga-Hamilton County Rescue Service. “The combined and coordinated capabilities of the men and women of both organizations provide an outstanding level of preparedness for any emergency situation.”

Approximately 130 employees work at BASF’s two Chattanooga sites, which make products used for adhesives, carpet backing, foams, paper coatings and asphalt modifiers.
