Players from Chattanooga's Ultimate Frisbee community filled spots on five different teams in Nashville's Monkey Bowl Ultimate Frisbee Tournament April 12-13.

There was a women's and an open division for this tournament. Open division means that the team might be co-ed.

There was a Chattanooga women's team, the UTC club team, the SRA All-Stars, Tanasi and The Remedy. Each posted at least one victory, while The Remedy made it to the semi-finals and Tanasi won the tournament. The Remedy was (and I say was as teams often form for one tournament, and do not play together for long periods of time, though there are teams that do form and play together on a regular basis, like Tanasi) a team with half of its players from Chattanooga and the other half from other cities in the region. There were also six high school players with the Remedy that matched up against many of the other best players in the southeast. Three were from McCallie and one from The Baylor School. Tanasi is the "Tennessee All-Star" team, meaning most of the best players from the state. In the championship game, they were up 8-7 at the half, and as the second half began, Tanasi poured it on only allowing a few points to finish off the Vanderbilt A team, and head home with another championship.

It was a weekend of fun, victory, sun, and memories for Chattanooga Ultimate players. The team called SRA All-Stars is named after Shawn R. Adams. Shawn was a player and often hailed as the founder of Chattanooga Ultimate. This is a quote taken from one of the Chattanooga players off their message exchange about Shawn, "Shawn always did and still does crack us up - he always will. Yesterday a few of us gathered together in the rain (BV, Judge, T-Bob, Ski, Carl, Chuck G., Steve Rogers, Greg Laudeman, Bernie, Cutter, and myself), sipped beer, tossed disc, and laughed ourselves silly at the Shawn memories." Shawn was struck by lightning at a Monkey Bowl tournament many years ago, and though he left his friends here in Tennessee, his memory still hold strong as players remember his time with them and especially each year at this tournament.

The next tournament on the schedule is Huckfest. It is in Huntsville, Ala., April 26-27.
