Jewell O. Lea, 81, of Rossville, died Thursday, May 29, 2003 at a local hospital.
She was a native of Jackson County, Ala. and had lived in Rossville for the past 50 years. She was a member of Cross Roads Baptist Church in Henagar, Ala. and attended Midway Baptist Church and the Senior Center in Rossville. She had been employed with Peerless Woolen Mills 40 years ago.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Claude W. Lea; brother, Gordon Townsel; and sister, Bonnie Meadows.
Survivors include her children, Claudine Frost, Rossville, Carolyn Dawson, Rossville, Jimmy Lea, Flintstone; sisters, Norma Sears, Ft. Oglethorpe, Dean Stallings, Noble; brothers, Aaron Townsel, Rossville, Barney Townsel, Henagar, Ala., Johnny Townsel, Scottsboro, Ala.; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the South Crest Chapel with Rev. Ted Verville officiating.
Burial will follow in Lakewood South Memory Gardens.
Visitation is from 5-8 p.m. Friday and 4-8 p.m. Saturday at the South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home.
