James Derek Hays, 20, of Chattanooga, died Monday, June 16, 2003, in an automobile accident.

He was a 2001 graduate of Hixson High School, where he was an honor society student. He was currently employed with UnumProvident and a student at UTC.

He is survived by his father, Jim Hays of Harrison; mother and stepfather, Karyn and Bret Herrin of Signal Mountain; sister, Samantha Herrin of Signal Mountain; grandparents, John and Bonnie Hays of Gainesville, Ga., Robert and Amanda Boyd of Ringgold, Ga., and Gene and Sonja Herrin of Signal Mountain; great-grandmothers, Vivian Hays of Conyers, Ga., Sarah Williams of Rome, Ga., and Ms. Estel Billington of Indianapolis, Ind.; uncles, aunts and cousins, and many special friends.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:30 a.m. on Friday in the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home with Pastor Chris Hansen officiating.

Interment will follow in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends for visitation on Thursday from 4-8 p.m. and on Friday from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.

Arrangements are by the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home.

Comcast Employee Seriously Injured On Brown's Ferry Road When Hit By A Car Tuesday

A Comcast employee, Adrian Lewisson, 47, was directing traffic on Tuesday, when he was struck by a car driven by Justina Mays, 47.
