Volunteer Guardians Needed For Elderly Program

Wednesday, January 28, 2004

Volunteer Guardians are needed for a program for the elderly through the Southeast Tennessee Area Agency on Aging Public Guardian Program, officials said.

Jan Levan said, "We need volunteer guardians. Being a Volunteer Guardian for a dependent adult is a great opportunity to show compassion for our aging population. Dependent adults can be vulnerable as a result of their mental or physical disability.

"The Volunteer Guardian will, through court appointment, legally make decisions for the care of the dependent adult. The apointment is made after appropriate training is completed and a petition is filed with the court.

"The training and petition are provided as a service of the Southeast Tennessee Public Guardian Program."

Thank You, Judge Mattice And Chattanooga

I would like to thank Judge Mattice for handing down a 30.5 year sentence for Kathleen Mathews.  Obviously, no amount of jail time, fines, or lashings can bring back Tim Chapin.   A 30-year sentence will, however, make the world just a little safer.  That's what Sgt. Chapin would have wanted.  He was a protector and sacrificed his life so the rest of ... (click for more)

There are two big nerves that sprout out of the ... (click for more)
