TVA has redesigned its economic development website, TVAed.com, to highlight the amount of resources and information available to users in
an easily accessible format, officials said.
“The fast pace of today’s economic development world and the dependence on technology compels us to be in a constant state of improving accessibility and usefulness of electronic resources,” said TVA Senior Vice President of Economic
Development John Bradley. “Our hope is that TVA’s updated economic development website will enable business decision makers to improve efficiencies and find the answers needed to grow their companies and communities.”
There are four primary sections to the site that provide users with information on TVA’s economic development services.
The sections are: locate or grow your industry, community development, existing industries and business services.
Site selection consultants and corporate relocation managers may find the section, locate or grow your industry, to be helpful, it was stated. Community leaders looking to
improve their economic growth readiness may benefit from the community development section.
The existing industries section provides information on financial and technical services for existing companies to sustain and continue to grow their businesses in the Tennessee Valley. The business services section contains information relevant for new entrepreneurs, small and mid-sized businesses as well as women and minority-owned companies.
The site also features a commercial energy library for energy systems design information and efficient energy recommendations for various commercial establishments. Information on the TVA-sponsored megasites certification program
featuring current certified automotive sites is also available.
Other web services linked to the site are: TVAsites.com, a Geographic
Information System-based database of more than 1,500 buildings and industrial properties available in the Tennessee Valley, and TVA’s Online Business Resource Center, an offering of business information and resources to developing and existing
businesses. Quick links to other local, state and regional economic development partners are also available.
To access TVA’s economic development Web site, visit TVAed.com. Users may
submit economic development questions to TVA through a link on the home page. The site is maintained by in-house TVA staff.
In fiscal year 2004, TVA worked in partnership with various economic
development organizations and partners to help attract or retain 50,388 jobs and leverage $2.1 billion in capital investment. TVA also provided more than $13.5 million in
economic development loans.
