Jean Howard Hill Eyeing Race Against Zach Wamp

Jean Howard Hill, who was formerly active in the Republican Party, has picked up papers to run against Republican incumbent Zach Wamp for Congress.

Ms. Hill said recently she will soon publish a book critical of Hamilton County Republicans, including Rep. Wamp.

Ms. Hill, who is black, said the book is called "Black Eyes Shut - White Lips Sealed."

A number of other candidates recently picked up qualifying papers for local legislative and County School Board races. The deadline is April 1 at noon.

Brent Benedict, an Independent, and Timothy E. Moore, a Republican, picked up qualifying papers for House District 29 and James Carpenter, a Democrat, for House District 26.

Barbara Levi, a longtime teacher, and Rick Skiles, who has been critical of the county school administration, have picked up papers for County School Board District 1.

Pennsylvania Couple Facing 60 Counts Of Identity Theft

A Pennsylvania couple stopped Friday for speeding on I-75 was held in the Bradley County jail charged with 60 counts of identity theft.   A detective for the Bradley County Sheriff’s office on Friday stopped the vehicle after radar showed it to be in excess of the 70 mph limit.
