There's a new way to tour downtown - climb aboard a segway scooter.
Scott Hallberg is leading hour-long segway tours from a home base near the Visitor Center on Broad Street near the river. Cost is $20.
Segways have no brakes, but not to fear, you can stop it by shifting your weight to the rear.
And it's almost impossible to fall off.
"People just love them. They don't want to get off when the hour is up," Scott says.
There was a trial run of segway tours on the Northshore last fall, and now Scott has set up camp in the lively Aquarium district.
There are no tours on Monday and Tuesday, but hours are 10-8 on Saturday and 10-6 other days.
Phil Sieg of Chattanooga is the owner of Crown Marketing, which has the segway operation.
