Dowlen, Helen Carter

Helen Carter Dowlen, 86, of Hixson, died Thursday, May 20, 2004.

Helen was retired from Miller Brothers and was a member of Falling Water Cumberland Presbyterian Church.

She was preceded in death by her three brothers, Lonnie, Jess and John Carter.

Helen is survived by her husband of over 50 years, Howard Dowlen; four children, Ronnie Dowlen, Mary Helen Glasgow and her husband Curt, Glenn Dowlen, and his wife Anna, and Mike Dowlen, and his wife Joyce; seven grandchildren, Michael, Jason, and Nick Dowlen, Tammy Avery, Shana Biddle, Misty Glasgow, and Valerie Dowlen; three great-grandchildren; one nephew.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Sunday at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home with Rev. Glenn Kapperman officiating.

The family will receive friends from 4-7 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home.

Burial will be in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.

Mark Phillips Was Victim In Fatal Hixson Pike Wreck

Mark Phillips, 54, was the victim in a fatal Hixson Pike wreck on Saturday afternoon. Police said the driver of the Ford F150 that went out of control and struck the Phillips vehicle was 68-year-old Warren Elliott.
