The Craniofacial Foundation of America is hosting a benefit auction with a Caribbean theme on Saturday, June 26, at 7:00 p.m. at the Black Creek Club at Cummings Cove.
The event will feature both a silent and live auction, a Caribbean buffet by Patrick’s, tropical drinks, and reggae music by the Natti Love Joys.
Admission is $25.00 per person. Reservations are available by calling the foundation office at 423-778-9192. The attire is casual.
Auction items include a six-night cruise on the Queen Mary II, courtesy of Tennessee Travel and Cunard, A three-day Club Med package to the Bahamas, Travel packages featuring numerous destinations, jewelry, furs, dinners, interior furnishings, spa packages, and much more!
The Craniofacial Foundation of America (CFA) is a nonprofit organization that supports the work of the Tennessee Craniofacial Center at T.C. Thompson Children’s Hospital and Erlanger Medical Center. The Center is led by nationally known craniofacial surgeon, Dr. Larry A. Sargent. Patients from almost every state as well as from numerous foreign countries travel to Chattanooga for evaluation and treatment of the facial differences.
Officials said the Center has gained a national reputation for excellence in the field of craniofacial surgery, treating birth defects, tumors, and trauma of the face and skull.
The CFA provides financial assistance for food, travel, and lodging expenses to approximately 250 families undergoing evaluation and treatment at the Tennessee Craniofacial Center each year. In addition, it provides networking opportunities and patient/family events including a weekend family camp. It also provides educational materials on craniofacial conditions as well as maintaining an extensive Internet site.
The Foundation also supports the center’s annual international medical program in the Republic of Panama. There is no charge for any of the Foundation’s services. It is supported entirely by donations from the public and through its fundraising activities.
The CFA is dedicated to serving children and adults who need its services, it was stated.
Dr. Sargent said, “When children have severe facial deformities, it can have a disastrous effect on them, both from a psychological and physical standpoint while they may be mentally normal and normal in every other way, they are not treated normally. You can essentially destroy someone’s life that way. By being able to return their face to a normal appearance, you can give them a second chance. Everyone deserves the right to look normal.”
