Rep. Jack Sharp To Continue On Despite Aggressive Lung Cancer

Monday, October 10, 2005

Rep. Jack Sharp (R-East Ridge) on Monday made the following announcement to constituents and colleagues as an update on his recent diagnosis with lung cancer:

“This past Wednesday, I met with my oncologist and learned that the cancer is in its third stage – which is not the most advanced stage, but is very close. Fortunately, as far as we can tell, the cancer remains in my lung area and has not spread to either my bones or brain. While the cancer is not operable at this time, which was our first choice, we were able to start chemotherapy treatments immediately. I took my first round on Wednesday and will continue to do so for the next 12 weeks.

“With this diagnosis and planned treatment will undoubtedly come a few changes. The most noticeable will be a decline in my ability to participate in events that involve crowds due to the aggressive nature of the chemo. I intend to continue to serve the people of the 30th House District to the best of my abilities, which we will continue to assess as the effects of this medical treatment run their course. I would greatly appreciate your patience as we do so.”

Rep. Sharp may be contacted through his assistant, Rose Winfree, at 615-741-1934 or by e-mail rose.winfree@legislature.state.tn.us.

Rep. Sharp represents the 30th House District which includes portions of Hamilton County. He is a member of the House Transportation Committee and the House Agriculture Committee. Rep. Sharp resides in East Ridge.

Thank You, Judge Mattice And Chattanooga

I would like to thank Judge Mattice for handing down a 30.5 year sentence for Kathleen Mathews.  Obviously, no amount of jail time, fines, or lashings can bring back Tim Chapin.   A 30-year sentence will, however, make the world just a little safer.  That's what Sgt. Chapin would have wanted.  He was a protector and sacrificed his life so the rest of ... (click for more)

Ah, step into my parlor of first-hand wisdom because, in the School of Hard Knocks, there are priceless lessons that you should know before it becomes your turn to dance. There are two big nerves that sprout out of the ... (click for more)
