Allen Elementary Students Learn Fire Safety Friday

Sequoyah Volunteer Fire Department will be educating children of Allen Elementary about Fire Prevention on Friday, Oct. 7, from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. The firefighters will speak to the kids about candle safety, smoke detectors and home evacuations.

Sequoyah VFD was established in 1985. The fire service has 19 active members and two stations with nine apparatus in service. Sequoyah VFD provides fire suppression, medical assistance and various types of rescue and community involvement.

Sequoyah has State Certified Fire Officers, State Instructors, State Journeyman Firefighters to County Certified Firefighters.

Their Medical Staff will include Respiratory Therapist, EMT and First Responders.

Mark Phillips Was Victim In Fatal Hixson Pike Wreck

Mark Phillips, 54, was the victim in a fatal Hixson Pike wreck on Saturday afternoon. Police said the driver of the Ford F150 that went out of control and struck the Phillips vehicle was 68-year-old Warren Elliott.
