TDOT will suspend construction on all major roadways in the state beginning at noon Wednesday, Nov. 23, to ease traffic flow for those traveling on Tennessee¡¦s roads during the Thanksgiving holiday period.
Construction work will be halted on all roads that have an average daily traffic count of 30,000 vehicles or more which includes interstates and some state routes. Construction will not resume until Monday, Nov. 28, after the morning rush hour period.

Most of this work will be done in the day using short term lane closures during non-peak hours between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. While every effort is being made to minimize inconvenience to the motoring public, some congestion can be expected, and motorists may want to seek an alternate route. „h ****I-40 Replacement of Overhead Bridge at Plateau Road (mm 311) Both structures on Plateau Road over I-40 are closed for reconstruction. The closure of these structures is necessary to maintain safety for the traveling public. Lane closures on I-40 eastbound and westbound are expected on November 28 and 30 beginning at 7:00 p.m. and ending by 6:00 a.m. CST the following morning. Where possible, traffic may be rerouted across the interchange ramps to minimize inconvenience. The contractor is currently working on grading the bridge approaches and the I-40 ramps.
