Notre Dame Falls To Livingston Academy 48-34

Livingston Academy Wildcats scored 34 second half points to end Notre Dame's perfect season 48-34 in the Class 3A state semifinal football game. Notre Dame ended the season with an impressive 13-1 record.

Notre Dame's Devin Carthorn scored twice on option plays in the first half to help give Notre Dame a 21-14 lead over Livingston.

Livingston Academy scored on their first drive, but Notre Dame answered with two touchdowns and then Notre Dame turned the ball over giving Livingston Academy a chance to score which they did.

Carthorn’s second option touchdown came as the clock ran out in the first half giving the Irish the 21-14 lead.

Notre Dame opened the second half with a Drew Nelson pass to Devin Carthorn for a 56 yard play to give the Irish a 31-20 lead.

Livingston scored on a Wilson Cates 22-yard touchdown to cut the lead to 31-28 after the two-point conversion.

Notre Dame's John Reinhart then hit a field goal to take a 34-28 lead. That would be the final points for the Irish of Notre Dame.

Livingston’s Wilson Cates returned an interception for one of the three final touchdowns for the Wildcats.

Livingston then scored on a 49 yard pass.

The Wildcat defense recovered a Notre Dame fumble with 4:31 left in the game. Cates finished off the scoring after a short drive by the home team.

Notre Dame’s final possession ended with a desperation pass that was intercepted by Livingston.

Tyner trailed Alcoa 17-0 at the half and lost 31-14.

MURFREESBORO. --- UTC senior Chris Berry (Murfreesboro) took first in the men’s 3000 meter run at the Valentine Invitational at the Murphy Center on the campus of Middle Tennessee. Mark Phillips Was Victim In Fatal Hixson Pike Wreck

Mark Phillips, 54, was the victim in a fatal Hixson Pike wreck on Saturday afternoon. Police said the driver of the Ford F150 that went out of control and struck the Phillips vehicle was 68-year-old Warren Elliott.
