Bob Corker announced Thursday that he has selected Todd Womack to lead the political operations of his Senate campaign and has named him political director. Mr. Womack will officially join the campaign on Dec. 1.

"I am thrilled that our campaign has been successful in attracting intelligent, seasoned, high-caliber talent like Todd Womack," said Mr. Corker. "We are excited that Todd will be working with our grassroots leaders from all parts of the state as we continue to build the strongest, most broad-based campaign in Tennessee history."

At the end of November, Mr. Womack will leave the city of Chattanooga, where he is currently serving as communications director and senior advisor to the mayor. Mr. Womack came to work for the city in that capacity in August of 2001, shortly after Mr. Corker was elected mayor. After Mr. Corker left office, Mayor Ron Littlefield asked Mr. Womack to stay on to help with the transition.

During Mayor Corker's administration, Mr. Womack was responsible for numerous operational and programmatic functions of government and served as the senior communications officer for the city of Chattanooga. He assisted Mayor Corker in implementing his agenda. In addition, Mr. Womack ran the city's Communications Office and served as a key liaison between the city and local, state and federal officials.

According to Mr. Corker, "In a short time, Todd has distinguished himself as an outstanding leader and public servant who is committed to making a difference through his strong work ethic and commitment to conservative principles."

Mayor Littlefield tapped Mr. Womack to serve in his administration. Mr. Womack has been a member of Mayor Littlefield's senior staff since he came to office.

"I am deeply honored to be part of the great team working to get Bob Corker elected to the United States Senate," said Mr. Womack. "I had the distinct privilege of serving Bob Corker when he was mayor and saw first-hand his dynamic leadership and remarkable ability to accomplish great things. He will be a tremendous United States senator and I look forward to helping him spread his conservative message throughout our state."

Mr. Womack is a native of Chattanooga and he and his wife, Katie, have been married for six years. They have two daughters, Laura Kate, 4, and Rebekah, 2, and are expecting a son in November. They are members of Woodland Park Baptist Church and live on Missionary Ridge.
