City's Jeff Pfitzer Joins RiverCity Company

The city's Jeff Pfitzer is joining the RiverCity Company effective Dec. 19.

Paul Brock, RiverCity Company president, said Mr. Pfitzer will be director of special projects.

Mr. Brock said, "Jeff has a real love for the urban environment. He will be a great addition at RiverCity."

He said Mr. Pfitzer has a master's degree in urban planning and he said he "has a great relationship with the city and the state."

He said He will be working on "downtown targets of opportunity" as well as boosting downtown housing and "the whole area of the urban design that has made Chattanooga distinctive."

Mr. Pfitzer, a St. Elmo resident, formerly was on the staff of the Regional Planning Agency.

During the Corker administration, he joined city public works as manager of capital projects. He also worked on city parking issues as the "city park czar."

Dr. King, Dr. Metcalfe Switch Roles At Medical Examiner's Office; King Takes Pay Cut

Longtime Hamilton County Medical Examiner Frank King is switching roles with his assistant, Dr. James K. Metcalfe, county officials said. Dr. Metcalfe becomes medical examiner and Dr. King forensic examiner. County Mayor Jim Coppinger said the switch is "cost neutral" to the county. He said Dr. King would be taking a sizable pay cut. County Schools Ask That PILOT Funds Be Released By County

Hamilton County School officials are asking the County Commission to stop holding payment in lieu of taxes (PILOT) funds, but let the money flow straight to the schools as it did until about a year ago.
