Five Championship titles have been claimed in Murfreesboro. MTSU hosted the Blue Cross Bowl with games being played Friday and Saturday.

Trousdale County finished the season with a perfect record (15-0) by defeating Union City 52-16 to claim the 1A title Friday afternoon. The title was the sixth for the Yellow Jackets who moved back to single A from 3A last year.

Defending state champions, Alcoa defeated Goodpasture 55-13 to win the 2A title Friday evening. The Tornadoes won their second title in a row, and the seventh in school history.

Livingston Academy entered playoffs as a fourth seed and went on to defeat David Lipscomb 28-13 and earn the 3A title Saturday afternoon.

For the second year in a row Maryville defeated Melrose to claim the 4A championship. The Rebels won 23-3 Saturday evening. Maryville earned their ninth championship in school history, five of them coming in the last six years.

In 5A Ravenwood defeated Oak Ridge 14-7 to claim the school's first ever state title in only their third year.

Mother Of Man Charged With Killing Sgt. Chapin Given Prison Sentence Of 30 Years, 6 Months

The mother of the man charged with killing Chattanooga Police Sgt. I would like to thank Judge Mattice for handing down a 30.5 year sentence for Kathleen Mathews.  Obviously, no amount of jail time, fines, or lashings can bring back Tim Chapin.   A 30-year sentence will, however, make the world just a little safer.  That's what Sgt.
