Francis Eugene "Gene" Hinds, 75, of Apison, died Friday, Dec., 2, 2005, in a local hospital.
A lifelong resident of the Chattanooga area, he was a member of New Friendship Baptist Church and was retired from Herb Adcox Cheverolet with 34 years of service.
He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Thelma Hinds; two daughters, Linda Thompson, LaFayette, GA, and Joy Swearengin, Apison; son, Ronnie Hinds, Apison; two brothers; seven grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Monday in the Valley View Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home with the Rev. Frankie Ridley and the Rev. Mark Smith officiating. Interment will be in Plowman Cemetery. His grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Sunday at the Valley View Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory and Florist, 7414 Old Lee Highway.
