Walker, Dorothy Gattis

Dorothy Gattis Walker, 79, of Chattanooga, died on Wednesday, Feb. 9, 2005, at a local hospital.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Judge David Thomas Walker, and her great-grandson, William Blake Stocker.

She was a member of Northminster Presbyterian Church. Mrs. Walker devoted her life to her family and blessed them with her love and support.

Early in her career she was employed by Railway Express. She was a graduate of Central High School and later attended the University of Tennessee in Knoxville. She also was active in numerous school, civic and golf associations.

She is survived by her two daughters, Diane Walker Stocker and her husband, Mike A. Stocker, and Debra Walker Mayfield and her husband, Jeff A. Mayfield; seven grandchildren, Michael A. Stocker II and his wife Sarah, Amanda Stocker West and her husband Ben, Christopher B. Stocker, Dori C. Mayfield, Katie L. Mayfield, Jessica A. Smith and Justin M. Smith; her brother, Richard A. Ryon, his wife Carlene; nephew, Richard Thomas Ryon and his wife Carey; her great-niece, Mattie; her niece, Ragan Ryon; and many cousins whom she dearly loved.

A memorial service will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at Northminster Presbyterian Church, 4791 Hal Drive, with the Rev. Becky A. Downs officiating.

Visitation will be on Saturday from 11 a.m. until the hour of service.

A reception will follow after the service at the church.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Northminister Presbyterian Church.

Mark Phillips Was Victim In Fatal Hixson Pike Wreck

Mark Phillips, 54, was the victim in a fatal Hixson Pike wreck on Saturday afternoon. Police said the driver of the Ford F150 that went out of control and struck the Phillips vehicle was 68-year-old Warren Elliott.
