County Commissioner Curtis Adams made a 5-minute appearance on the Hannity & Colmes show on Fox News Network Wednesday night, explaining why he left the Democratic Party.
He was asked about new party chairman Howard Dean, and he said he had "already got his tail in a crack."
He said the party "has gotten down so low that it would take a real pro to turn it around. He's not the one to do it."
Commissioner Adams told of how most elected officeholders in Hamilton County used to be Democrats and now are Republicans.
Asked who he voted for in the last presidential election, he said Bush. He said he had voted for Clinton before that.
He was also asked about critical comments made about his defection by Rep. JoAnne Favors. He declined "to get in that fight."
Hosts of the show said it appeared Commissioner Adams had been a Republican for some time.
Commissioner Adams has been receiving a number of interviews since making the surprise switch last Saturday.
