The FBI said Friday it had arrested Chattanooga Police Sgt. Gerry M. Davis on charges of extortion and bribery.

R. Joe Clark, special agent in charge of the FBI's Knoxville Bureau, said a long-term investigation "revealed multiple incidents where Davis used his official position of authority to extort individuals and businesses in the Chattanooga area."

The FBI is asking that individuals "who have been affected by these acts of official misconduct" to come forward.

Agt. Clark said it is believed that some people "have been hesitant to come forward for fear of reprisals from Davis."

He said those who give statements "can feel assured they will receive the complete support of the FBI and the Chattanooga Police Department."

Davis, who has a lengthy personnel file at the police department, was made a sergeant under the Jimmie Dotson administration.

Investigators said they are seeking information on an incident Jan. 15 at Club Voodoo in downtown Chattanooga. They are looking for a woman who was at the club and "could provide valuable information."

She was described as a white female in her mid-20s, approximately 5'4" and 105 pounds, with mid-length blonde hair with highlights. She was wearing a light blue halter top and blue jeans.

Anyone with information about the woman is asked to call the FBI at 265-3601.

We Are Blessed To Have Ron Littlefield As Our Mayor - And Response (2)

Chattanooga is blessed beyond measure to have Ron Littlefield as our mayor.  It is a total travesty our city has had to endure the long frivolous battle with absolutely  no foundation other than disagreement with policy issues.  It has always been a vendetta directed personally at Mayor Littlefield which, if the "interveners" decide to appeal, will be a proven fact.   ...
