The 39th Annual Tri-State Home Show opening at the Chattanooga Convention and Trade Center March 4 will feature Jim Parks, host of Home & Garden Television’s (HGTV) home improvement show, New Spaces, along with 100,000 square feet of exhibits of the latest products and services in the building industry.
More than 400 booths have been sold for the show and less than 30 remain available, said Ken Stutz, show chairman for the Home Builders Association of Southern Tennessee (HBAST) which puts on the show. Most or all of those are expeccte to be taken by the opening.
Joining HBAST as primary sponsor of the show is EPB. Also joining as sponsors and providing major prizes for the show are Absolute Appliance which will give away a Viking stainless steel range, hood and dishwasher valued at $7,235. Sponsor Tileworks Inc. will give away a ceramic tile and installation package valued at $5,000. Grass & More will give away a water garden and landcaping package valued at $5,000. A wide array of door prizes will be offered by the many exhibitors
The three-day show opens Friday with ceremonies at 10 a.m. Hours are Friday and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sunday, 11 a.m.. to 5 p.m. Admission price is $7 for adults, $6 for seniors while children under 16 will be admitted free.
The show provides visitors with displays and information on every phase of home building, remodeling, decorating, landscaping and financing, said Chairman Stutz.. Close to 14,000 persons attended last year’s show and that number is expected to be equaled or exceeded this year. The show, said Mr. Stutz, will provide visitors with a one-stop shopping center for everything for the home.
HGTV Celebrity Parks, with 25 years or broadcasting and video experience, will moderate a panel of local experts at various times all three days. The panels are set for Friday and Saturday 11 a.m., 3 and 7 p.m. and Sunday at 1 and 3 p.m.
Mr. Stutz said the show committee is preparing for a record attendance and one of the most successful shows in the 39-year history of the event.
The HBAST Remodelors’ Council again will set up a “Remodelors’ Alley” at the show and will provide a booklet about the show and about various aspects of the building industry.
A portion of the proceeds will go to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital which last year received a check from HBAST for some $15,000. St. Jude provides volunteers to help with the show and will have a booth at the show.
Phillip K. Deal, associate director of St. Jude here, said the Home Builders and St. Jude have developed a close relationship, working together for the past several Home Shows. “It has been a very rewarding association,” he added, “and St. Jude is pleased to be a part of it.”
The area’s largest display of materials, services and ideas for the home under one roof will include sunrooms, waterproofing, appliances, gutter covers, decks, siding and gazebos. Also propane-use products, cultured marble, cabinets, carpet, windows and doors, roofing, closets, insulation, flooring, awnings, pools, lumber and lumber products, electronics and landscaping.
The list goes on with alarm systems, phone systems, television, glassware, brick, tile, granite, rugs, recreational equipment, heating and air conditioning, shutters, lighting, log homes, fencing, fireplaces, financial services, moving services and an array of vendors offering such things as cleaning products and tools, yard tools and landscaping products and materials.
The show here is considered one of the most outstanding home shows in the Southeast.
