Signal Mountain-Walden May Get First Liquor Store

Monday, March 14, 2005

Signal Mountain may be getting its first liquor store soon.

David Michael Craig said he plans to set up Mountain Top Wine and Spirits at the Walden Commons. It will be located in Walden, but "on the Signal Mountain said."

"I obviously hope to get a lot of customers from both towns," Mr. Craig said.

Walden voters decided by a 60 percent Yes vote to allow liquor sales last November.

The Planning Commission on Monday recommended approval for a special permit for the liquor store. Final approval must come from the Walden Town Council, which has already approved on first reading.

Mr. Craig is due to go before the state Alcoholic Beverage Commission in April.

He plans to occupy some 2,000 square feet of Suite 7A at Walden Commons for the retail package store selling wine and other alcoholic beverages.

Mr. Craig has been in the wholesale beer business for the past 17 years.

He said, "We have received nothing but encouragement from our friends and neighbors for this business."

We Are Blessed To Have Ron Littlefield As Our Mayor - And Response (3)

Chattanooga is blessed beyond measure to have Ron Littlefield as our mayor.  It is a total travesty our city has had to endure the long frivolous battle with absolutely  no foundation other than disagreement with policy issues.  It has always been a vendetta directed personally at Mayor Littlefield which, if the "interveners" decide to appeal, will be a proven fact.   ...
