Mayoral Campaigns Dealing With Missing, Destroyed Signs

Friday, April 01, 2005

With a little more than a week to go until Election Day, the Ron Littlefield Campaign says whole neighborhoods have been stripped of pro Littlefield signs. And the Ann Coulter campaign said over 1,000 of its signs have come up missing.

“Unfortunately, it seems that there is always some theft and vandalism of signs in political campaigns, but this time we're seeing more loss than ever before,” said Councilman Littlefield. "We've even had many instances of signs being stolen from supporter’s yards.”

Jeff Olingy of the Coulter campaign said they condemn the pilfering of campaign signs and instruct campaign workers not to do so.

He said they aggressively take action in cases of sign theft.

Mr. Olingy said, "We ask the Littlefield campaign to do the same."

Dale Mabee, one of the Littlefield campaign’s managers, said, "Callers have given us descriptions of cars and individuals seen taking signs from along streets, but we aren't about prosecuting those responsible, we just ask for a little more responsible behavior.”

He said, "We have pictures of our larger signs lying in shreds where our opponent's signs have been erected.

"We've asked our volunteers to never touch one of my opponents' signs unless it is to straighten it up or set it back up if it has fallen. I ask the Coulter campaign to give us the same courtesy and respect for the democratic process.”

We Are Blessed To Have Ron Littlefield As Our Mayor - And Response (3)

Chattanooga is blessed beyond measure to have Ron Littlefield as our mayor.  It is a total travesty our city has had to endure the long frivolous battle with absolutely  no foundation other than disagreement with policy issues.  It has always been a vendetta directed personally at Mayor Littlefield which, if the "interveners" decide to appeal, will be a proven fact.   ...
