Norris McAfee died Saturday, April 2, 2005.

On Oct. 23, 1924, Norris was born to the proud parents of Fletcher and Sudie McAfee.

He was preceded in death by parents, Fletcher and Sudie McAfee; grandchild, Juan M. Walker; and nephew, Gerald McAfee.

Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Norma Jean; children, Edward Lamar McAfee, Munzel McAfee-Johnson, Tunya Jo McAfee, Michael McAfee and Velma Ramsey-Union; grandchildren, La Keshia McAfee, Tiyana Wainwright, Junius Rogers Johnson, Shaun McAfee, Andress Walker; great-grandchildren, Tyree, Destiny, Aliah, Kierra McAfee and Angelique Mathews; brother, Dennis (Ruby) McAfee; nieces and nephews, Dennis Jr., Darren and Quantina McAfee; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services are 1 p.m. Saturday at Avondale Chapel with Bishop A.D. Ringer officiating.

Interment is in Greenwood Cemetery.

Visitation is after noon Friday at the Avondale Chapel of Franklin-Strickland Funeral Directors.

Murphy, John Austin (Rising Fawn)

John Austin Murphy, 93,  of Rising Fawn, Georgia, died on Saturday, March 25, 2017 in Trenton, Georiga.  He was a gunner and staff sargeant with the Air Force during World War II in the European Theatre.  He flew 30 combat missions in both the B17 and B24 planes.  He received four Bronze Medals, four Oak Leaf Medals an EAME Ribbon, and Air Medal ... 1 Person Killed In 3-Car Accident In Dalton On Saturday

There was a fatal three-vehicle crash on the South Bypass in Dalton just south of Sawgrass Drive  on Saturday  at approximately  4:30 pm .
