Teachers To Educate Their Colleagues On Tricks Of Trade

Tuesday, June 07, 2005

Some 200 educators from Hamilton County and several surrounding counties will attend the third annual Teachers Teaching Teachers Technology Conference to learn how to better integrate technology in their classrooms. The “T 4” Conference will take place Wednesday, June 15, at Lakeside Academy from 8:30 a.m. – 4 p.m.

The conference will feature 40 hands-on computer sessions including Help! What Do I Do With This Computer In My Classroom?, PowerPoint Tips & Tricks, NetTrekker and Lights, Camera & Learning. There will be several technology demonstrations and a showcase of student multimedia works, as well as plenty of door prizes including a laptop computer and multimedia projector for a teacher to use in the classroom. Select software vendors will also set up shop at the conference.

Event organizers say they want all Hamilton County teachers to be able to successfully integrate technology into their curriculum as encouraged by the International Society for Technology in Education.

“We want teachers to feel as comfortable using technology in their classrooms as they do a textbook and the whiteboard,” said Cheri Grant, the district’s technology coordinator.

“The T 4 Conference will empower educators to explore various aspects of technology that are new to them, and it will help them build upon some basic skills they already have,” Ms. Grant said.

Hamilton County School Board member Debbie Colburn will be the keynote speaker at the conference. Mrs. Colburn also serves as chairwoman of the Board’s technology committee.

The T 4 Conference is being paid for with Title II, Part D, funds, which is a part of the federal No Child Left Behind legislation called Enhancing Education Through Technology.

We Are Blessed To Have Ron Littlefield As Our Mayor - And Response (2)

Chattanooga is blessed beyond measure to have Ron Littlefield as our mayor.  It is a total travesty our city has had to endure the long frivolous battle with absolutely  no foundation other than disagreement with policy issues.  It has always been a vendetta directed personally at Mayor Littlefield which, if the "interveners" decide to appeal, will be a proven fact.   ... Roy Exum: What 17 Pills Did To Me

Ah, step into my parlor of first-hand wisdom because, in the School of Hard Knocks, there are priceless lessons that you should know before it becomes your turn to dance.
