Soddy-Daisy Fire Ruled Accidental

The fire on June 30 at 2:16 a.m. at 412 Classic Dr. in the Ashley Place Subdivision in Soddy-Daisy has been ruled accidental.

The family was awakened by the smell of smoke and got out of the house. They met at the mailbox, where they called 911 from a cell phone.

The Soddy-Daisy Fire Department arrived and found heavy smoke and fire coming from the back of the residence.

The fire started in the basement of the residence where the owner was doing some wood working early in the evening. It’s not clear at this time the cause of the fire, but it is being ruled accidental.

The fire caused $60,000.00 damage.

There were no working smoke detectors in the residence.
