Police Blotter: Motel Operator Arrested After Dispute Over Roaches

Tuesday, July 19, 2005

The owner of Lamar's Motel on E. MLK Boulevard has been arrested after police said he pulled a gun on a customer who was complaining about roaches in his room.

Gerald Partridge was charged with aggravated assault.

Christopher Parker said he rented a room. He said he found roaches in it and asked for another room.

He said the owner became irate and told him the motel did not have roaches and he needed to leave. He asked for his money back, and he was told he could have $20 of the $40 he paid.

Mr. Parker said he stated he was only in the room a short time and had not messed it up. He said he wanted all his money back.

He said the owner then pulled a pistol from his pocket, racked the slide, pointed it at him, and said, "I don't play. Get out."

Mr. Parker left, then contacted police.

A woman who counsels a man with mental problems said she met up with him on Market Street, and he started following her.

She said he tried to get her to go into an alley and displayed a knife, saying, "Look what I found."

The woman said she became very fearful for her safety and fled the scene. She went to the courthouse to take out a warrant for the man's arrest.

Nikki Thomas, a nurse at Parkridge Hospital, said her wallet was stolen from her unlocked employee locker. She said one of her Visa cards was used a short time later at Walgreen's on Brainerd Road by a 6' tall white male with long, wavy blonde hair who signed the name Jarmin Whited on the bill.

Officials said he was seen by other nurses in the nurses' locker room earlier in the day and asked to leave.

Videos of the suspect were at the Walgreen's, police said.

A resident on Boynton Drive complained that someone was blowing smoke under his door and moving his pillows on his couch.

Police said they did not smell any smoke or notice any damage to the door.

Chattanooga is blessed beyond measure to have Ron Littlefield as our mayor.  It is a total travesty our city has had to endure the long frivolous battle with absolutely  no foundation other than disagreement with policy issues.  It has always been a vendetta directed personally at Mayor Littlefield which, if the "interveners" decide to appeal, will be a proven fact.   ...
