Air America Not Welcome In Chattanooga - And Replies

Saturday, July 23, 2005

We all have to hope that the decision by WDOD to change to liberal talk radio is not final. The music played by WDOD was made by artists who did not feel it necessary to curse or encourage drug use or violence to garner an audience. Nor did they feel it necessary to attack the president in wartime.

If the decision by WDOD management is carried out, Chattanooga's airwaves will be bombarded by Air America shows featuring people who attack our Commander in Chief, disdain our servicemen and revel in every report of recruiting difficulties, wish for an end to indecency regulations in the hope that a thousand Howard Sterns may bloom, and mock religious faith.

This is not what we are about as a community, and we need to do everything we can to keep the stench of liberal talk radio out of our city. And keep the fragrance of America's greatest music ever present.

I ask our neighbors to write the advertising community and let them know that Air America is not welcome or needed here. I hope this looming danger is discussed in our churches this Sunday. Let us hope that a way is found to keep WDOD's nostalgic music on the airwaves, and that our Earl will always have a clean and pleasant showcase worthy of his talents and long service to our community.

Air America, you are not welcome here in Chattanooga. We reject your filth and treason.

As much as it pains me to say it, I must disagree with Mr. Hardwell.

I am a huge Republican and I am politically to the right of almost everyone I know. While I won’t be listening to Air America for obvious reasons, I am sure that there are enough liberal people in the Chattanooga area who just might.

WDOD is not in business for the fun of it. If they see a business opportunity that will make them more money, then I can’t fault them for taking it.

"Filth and treason"?

"The stench of liberal talk radio"?

"Not welcome or needed here"?

Mr. Hardwell, if you feel this way about Air America and views contrary to your own, I highly encourage you to move to North Korea.

Views like yours are an insult to every man and woman who ever served the country. Not everyone has swallowed the neocon Kool-Aid like you obviously have, and quite frankly I'm sick of the conservative media being apologists for King George and his propaganda machine.

Air America will be a welcome relief.

Perhaps WDOD does see an opportunity for a niche of the market which is
currently and thankfully void, except when Jeff Styles opines on world
politics. There is probably a good reason that niche is now void.

Did WDOD not notice the drop in ratings when Wacky Max Hackett spewed his drivel on WGOW. This may be a good thing for those of us that tune in WGOW. Lefty Lockhart may get all wooded up over Al Frankenstein and make the jump to WDOD, so we don't have to deal with him anymore.

A Good School Takes Involvement

As I have read the articles concerning Normal Park School I can’t keep from thinking when our children started to school in the 1960‘s. The two elementary schools in the city that were considered tops were Barger and Woodmore. We did not live in the zone for either school so we looked for a house to buy that was zoned for Woodmore.   We found ... (click for more)

That sets up a clash with Rep. JoAnne Favors, who picked up for District 28 earlier. Under Republican redistricting, Rep. Favors wound up in the Brown district. Rep. Dean, a Republican from East ...
