Third Ethics Committee Meeting To Be In Chattanooga Thursday

Gov. Phil Bredesen’s Citizen Advisory Group on Ethics will travel to Chattanooga for its third meeting on Thursday at 1:30 p.m.

The meeting will be held in the Faculty/ Staff Dining Room [Room 126] of the Omniplex Building on the campus of Chattanooga State Technical Community College. The public is invited to attend.

The advisory group will hear from special guests and build the foundation for recommendations and guidance to the governor on the core issues he laid out during the first meeting of the advisory group, officials said.

Representatives of various stakeholder groups will share their views and answer questions related to the specific issues.

After conducting its business agenda, the advisory group will solicit input from citizens. The public is invited to observe the advisory group meeting and offer comments, thoughts, suggestions and questions during the public input session immediately following the group’s business meeting.

A home was damaged by fire on Wednesday morning in the Middle Valley area. A homeowner called 911 at 11:50 a.m., reporting a kitchen fire at 1031 Old Mill Lane. An employee of the Morristown-Hamblen Humane Society altered receipts to conceal the theft of $51,130 from the organization’s adoption fees and other funds, an audit by the Comptroller’s Division of Investigation has revealed.
