“Big Yellow” School Supply Drive Is Saturday

Hamilton Place Mall is hosting a Back-to-School Bash on Saturday, Aug. 13, from 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. in the mall’s center court. Shoppers will enjoy special discounts and entertainment, as well as receive helpful information to prepare them for the start of school.

The bash will also feature the First Student “Big Yellow” School Supply Drive. First Student is the private company that manages transportation services for Hamilton County Schools.

Parents, shoppers and others are encouraged to drop off school supplies on the First Student bus, which will be parked outside the mall near JC Penney.

All items collected during the First Student “Big Yellow” School Supply Drive will be donated to the Teacher Supply Depot. The depot is a joint initiative of the Hamilton County Council of PTAs and the school system.

County students return to the classroom on Monday, Aug. 15.

The fight for the title of “Dorm Wars Champion” will begin Feb. 20 at 8 p.m. in Lee University’s Walker Arena. Mother Of Man Charged With Killing Sgt. Chapin Given Prison Sentence Of 30 Years, 6 Months

The mother of the man charged with killing Chattanooga Police Sgt. I would like to thank Judge Mattice for handing down a 30.5 year sentence for Kathleen Mathews.  Obviously, no amount of jail time, fines, or lashings can bring back Tim Chapin.   A 30-year sentence will, however, make the world just a little safer.  That's what Sgt.
