Park Ranger Rebecca Karcher will lead a special tour of the Chickamauga Battlefield on Saturday, Aug. 13, beginning at 9:30 a.m. This tour will visit the family homesteads that were caught in the middle of one of the fiercest battles of the American Civil War and will discuss the physical and emotional impacts the battle had on these family’s lives.
Battle actions on farms near the Chickamauga Creek would claim 34,000 American casualties and forever change the lives of those who witnessed the fury of the battle.
The tour will begin at the Chickamauga Battlefield Visitor Center.
Participants are encouraged to wear comfortable clothing and bring a bottle of water. There must be at least four adults participating in order to conduct the program.
