Three families are displaced from their apartments due to a fire that broke out Thursday night at an apartment complex in Red Bank.
At 9 p.m., a 9-1-1 caller at the Chalet Apartments reported heavy smoke and fire coming from Apt. #36. Red Bank Fire Department responded and arrived on the scene within minutes. Red Bank requested a mutual aid response due to the potential risk of fire spreading to the surrounding apartment units.
Soddy Daisy Fire Department, Dallas Bay Volunteer Fire Department, Walden’s Ridge Emergency Services, Chattanooga-Hamilton County Rescue responded for additional manpower and fire apparatus. East Ridge Fire Department was staging for additional support if needed.
According to Deputy Chief of Red Bank Fire Department Jimmy Burnette, the fire started in a back bedroom. The firefighters were able to contain the fire to the back bedroom prohibiting the potential spread of fire to the surrounding units.
One apartment was a total loss and two surrounding units were damaged by smoke and water. The families affected by the fire were placed in unoccupied apartments in the Chalet Apartment complex Thursday night. The American Red Cross will help these families with future assistance.
No injuries were reported. Damages estimated at $50,000.
The cause of the fire will be under investigation by the Red Bank Police Department.
