Hollingsworth Is First Qualifier For Payne Post, Stern Kicks Off Campaign

Jeff Hollingsworth on Wednesday became the first candidate to qualify for the Circuit Court judge post being vacated by veteran Sam Payne.

And Criminal Court Judge Rebecca Stern said she is kicking off her campaign with a reception on Jan. 31. No one has yet picked up papers to run against her in Division II.

Aaron Shipley picked up qualifying papers as a Republican candidate for County Commission, District 3. Charlotte Vandergriff is not planning to run again.

County Commissioner Bill Hullander qualified for another run at the District 9 seat.

Attorney Hollingsworth is a partner with the Chambliss, Bahner & Stophel
firm. Before entering private practice in 1989, he served as a prosecutor in the Hamilton County district attorney's office.

Attorney Hollingsworth has achieved an "AV" rating from Martindale
Hubbell. He is certified as a Civil Trial Specialist by the National Board of Trial Advocacy and the Tennessee Commission of Continuing Legal Education and Specialization. He has also been elected a Fellow of the Chattanooga and Tennessee Bar Foundations.

Mr. Hollingsworth is an elder at Signal Mountain Presbyterian Church,
president-elect of the Downtown Kiwanis Club, secretary of the board of directors of Goodwill Industries, and a member of the board of directors
of Inner City Ministries.

Mr. Hollingsworth has been married to his wife, Mary, for 33 years. They
have two children,Katy, 27 and John, 25, who is married to the former
Lauren Gulledge.

The fundraiser for Judge Stern, a Republican, is from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at The Cupboard at 7th and Cherry.

Her campaign chairman is attorney Hal North, and her treasurer is Ed Schemel. Sheri Stern is the secretary.
