Alice Seagle Walton Latimore, 80, died on Friday, Jan. 27, 2006.
Born in Monroe, LA, on March 5, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Harry Christian and Harriett Seagle Walton.
She lived in Hugoton, KS, during the Dust Bowl days of 1930. She attended Tulsa University and was a member of Chi Omega sorority. She spent many summers in Chattanooga (St. Elmo), where her mother lived.
She married William Spears Latimore Jr. on Sept. 12, 1947, and lived in St. Elmo before moving to Lookout Mountain, where they were longtime residents. She especially enjoyed her time as a member of the 57 Lookout Mountain Garden Club.
Mrs. Latimore was a member of the Lookout Mountain Presbyterian Church, acting as a church school teacher and choir member, as well as a longtime member of the Junior League of Chattanooga, where she performed with the Choristers.
Alice was an active member of the Tennessee Society Daughters of the American Revolution. She served as regent of the Judge David Campbell Chapter twice and chaired two state wide committees. She served the Tennessee Society NSDAR as treasurer, second vice regent and first vice regent before retiring for health reasons. She was a member of the DAR since 1972.
Mrs. Latimore was active in her Scottish heritage as a member of Clan MacNab, Clan Maxwell, Clan Keith and the Chattanooga Scottish Society. She could claim family membership in six different Scottish clans. She was a dame commander of the Sovereign Military Order of the Temple of Jerusalem.
She is survived by her husband of 58 years, William Spears Latimore Jr.; and two sons, William Spears (Kaye) Latimore III, of Chattanooga, and Thomas Walton (Lynne) Latimore, of Ringgold, GA; one brother, Dr. Harry Lee Walton, of Lookout Mountain; and three stepgrandchildren; seven stepgreat-grandchildren; one niece and nephew.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, at the First Cumberland Presbyterian Church on North Moore Road where her family had been active. Burial will be in Forest Hills Cemetery in St. Elmo.

The family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m. Sunday at Wann Funeral Home in St. Elmo and one hour before the service on Monday.
