A home on Weidner Lane was heavily damaged early Sunday morning when the owner was out of town.

At approximately 1:40 a.m., Tri-Community Volunteer Fire Department responded to a report of a residential structure fire. Weidner Lane is a newly-named street that runs east from Ooltewah-Ringgold Road just north of Dexter Lane (2700 block of Ooltewah-Ringgold Road).

The first fire engine reported heavy fire consuming approximately three-fourths of the structure. That engine company laid a line from Ooltewah-Ringgold Road up Weidner Lane, which is a dirt road.

The structure is reportedly owned by Molly Stephens who is currently out of town. Her neighbor spotted the fire and dialed 9-1-1 and then tried dousing the flames with a garden hose.

No one was home at the time and the one dog present was uninjured.

Members of the Tri-Community VFD fought the fire. Hamilton County EMS stood by and Chattanooga Hamilton County Rescue Squad provided rehab. There were no injuries reported.

A cause had not yet been determined.

Thank You, Judge Mattice And Chattanooga

I would like to thank Judge Mattice for handing down a 30.5 year sentence for Kathleen Mathews.  Obviously, no amount of jail time, fines, or lashings can bring back Tim Chapin.   A 30-year sentence will, however, make the world just a little safer.  That's what Sgt. Chapin would have wanted.  He was a protector and sacrificed his life so the rest of ... (click for more)

There are two big nerves that sprout out of the ... (click for more)
