Herbert C. Meadows Jr., 82, died Monday Oct. 9, 2006, at his home.

A lifetime resident of Rhea County, he was the son of the late Herbert C. and Nellie Teffer Meadows Sr. Herbert was employed with Southern Silk Mill for 25 years, a patrolman for the city of Oak Ridge, and a painter with TVA. He was a veteran of WWII, serving his country in the U.S. Army, and served his Lord at Spring City Foursquare Church.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Geraldine Meadows; brothers, Jack Wendell and Robert Douglas Meadows.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Minnie Mae Hill Meadows, of Spring City; daughters, Roberta Doreen Pearce, of California, Charlotte (Larry) Miles, of Spring City; son, Haskell (Audrey) Meadows, of Soddy-Daisy; sister, Christine Gravett, of Chattanooga; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Spring City Foursquare Church with the Rev. David Witt officiating. Burial will follow in Spring City Cemetery with full military honors.

The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at Spring City Foursquare Church.

Vaughn Funeral Home in Spring City is in charge of arrangements.
