Chattanooge Airport Authority members voted Monday to retain Hugh Moore as their attorney, although the law firm with which he is associated is going out of business.
Mr. Moore, of the Witt, Gaither, Whittaker law firm, told authority members that company will cease routine operations on Nov. 1. By Jan. 1, he said, the law firm will no longer exist.
“I'm moving to Chambliss, Bahner and Stophel. I didn't learn of this until last Thursday,” he told authority members.
Mr. Moore has served as the authority's primary attorney since July 1985, when the agency selected Witt Gaither Whittaker as its legal firm.
Mr. Moore said the enormous number of banker's boxes that contain the Airport Authority's legal records will move with him to Chambliss, Bahner and Stophel.
