Shirley Ann Kessler Barrows, 78, died on Friday, Nov. 3, 2006.
She was born in Iowa City, Iowa, to the late Doran A. and Louella Kessler. For the past 70 years she had been a resident of Lookout Mountain/Chattanooga area. She was a member of the Lookout Mountain Presbyterian Church.
She was a former employee of Provident Insurance Co., Lookout Mountain Pharmacy and P.S. School Supply.
She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Martin Barrows Jr.; granddaughter, McKenzie René Barrows; her mother that raised her, Ethel Kessler; and a brother, Keith Kessler.
She is survived by her daughters and son-in-law, Christy Barrows, of Fort Oglethorpe, Vicky and Logan VanLeigh Jr., of Lenoir City, Tn.; sons and daughters-in-law, Marty and Babs Barrows, Ronny and Melissa Barrows, all of Chattanooga; grandchildren, Tabitha and Gregg Norris, Rachael, Joseph, Nadia, Stacey, Ellen, Andrew, Nicholas, Jonathan and Joshua Barrows, Taylor Lamunyon, all of Chattanooga, Robyn and Nancy VanLeigh, of Lenoir City; great-granddaughter, Kinsley Nicole Norris, of Chattanooga; sister, Ginita Dalton, of Escondido, Ca.; sister-in-law, Mary B. (Joseph A.) Jackson, of Signal Mountain; close friends, Ellis, Leanne, Timothy, Tyler and Trey Forrester, of Flintstone, Ga.; several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the staff of Portsbridge Heartland Hospice for their care and kindness.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Tuesday, graveside at Chattanooga National Cemetery with Ellis Forrester officiating.
