Thank You Verizon For Changing Tower Location

Friday, December 15, 2006

I would like to publicly thank and applaud Verizon wireless for changing their direction for the proposed cell tower location on 518 Georgia Ave. Verizon listened to the concerns of the community and decided to take action by looking for an alternative solution.

This is a great example of a telecommunications company being community aware and conscientious of the impact they can have to the surrounding community and our local historic resources. Their efforts speak volumes to their customers and the community.

I am certain by working together with the community they will be able to ultimately be able to find a suitable location and solution to improve their wireless infrastructure to better serve their customers while preserving the visual aspects of the Brabson Hill historic area.

Preserving our historic resources rewards us again and again by supporting sustainable communities, conserving resources and provides a tangible teaching tool for present and future generations. It ensures a visible presence of the traditions and values of our past helps us to keep our continuity, variety, and beauty and enriches our lives and spirits.

I realize that change will occur throughout our communities as the future unfolds, but this does not have to happen at the expense of historically or architecturally significant areas.

Thank you Verizon. I am glad I choose you as my wireless carrier.
