A trailer home was destroyed by fire in the Soddy-Daisy area Friday morning.

The homeowner, Shelba J. Smith, made a 9-1-1 call at 6:38 a.m. reporting heavy smoke and fire on Big Pine Lane.

The Soddy-Daisy Fire Department arrived on the scene confirming a fully-involved house fire.

Due to the cold temperatures, the Soddy-Daisy Fire Department requested a mutual aid response for additional manpower and water supply. The Dallas Bay Volunteer Fire Department and the Sale Creek Volunteer Fire Department responded for mutual aid.

Ms. Smith said she awoke to her smoke detectors alarming her and the smell of smoke. She left her bedroom to find smoke and fire coming from the living room area.

She was able to evacuate her home, but was unable to retrieve her dog from inside the house.

No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is undetermined and will be under investigation by the Soddy-Daisy Fire Department.

The house is a total loss and damages are estimated at $100,000. The homeowner did have insurance. The American Red Cross was called to assist the homeowner.
