Chattanooga firefighters responded to a house fire early Monday morning at 919 O'Grady Drive, and reported smoke and flames coming from the house when they arrived.
Battalion Chief Thaddeus Morton said the firefighters got the fire under control fairly quickly, but the damage was substantial.
No one was in the home at the time. Chief Morton said the resident has been sick and was staying with friends.
Senior Firefighter Henry McElvain with the Fire Investigation Division said the cause of the fire appears to be accidental, most likely from overloaded extension cords.
The dollar loss was estimated at around $80,000.
