Numerous Cars Broken Into At Local Motels

A number of local motel guests, including an assistant UTC football coach, have been going out in the morning and finding their cars were broken into, according to police reports.

Coach Carmen Felus said he had his vehicle parked at the Holiday Inn Express on Modern Industries Parkway when someone knocked out a rear window. Thieves stole his luggage, a 19" TV, his golf bag and golf clubs.

At the same motel, Stephen K. Felder of Chapmansboror, Tn., said his 2002 Dodge was broken into. But he had nothing in the vehicle to steal.

LaVonne Chung was staying at the Super 8 on Birmingham Highway and had a window knocked out of her Dodge Caravan. She also had no valuables in the vehicle.

At the Fairfield Inn on Shallowford Village Road, Henry Charles of Glenview, Ill., found a rear window broken out on his 2004 Toyota Highlander. He lost a cell phone, Nikon F2 SLR camera, four lenses and $1,700 in camera accessories.

At the Wingate Inn, Ralph Wells of Alabama, had his 2005 Dodge Caravan entered. No items were taken.

Lloyd Funchers said he was staying at the Hampton Inn on Shallowford Road when he found someone broke into his 2005 GMC Envoy and took $1,000 worth of computer equipment.

Brian Musselman was staying at the same Hampton Inn, and he had his 2004 Ford broken into. No valuables were in the vehicle.

At a motel on Shallowford Village Drive, a 2003 Buick Rendezvous had a window knocked out. The owner lost his briefcase, prescription glasses, clothes and a signed check.

At the same motel, a 2002 Cadillac Escalade was broken into. The interior was ransacked.

Kelly Mock had his truck broken into at Covenant Transport. He lost a GPS, digital camera, XM radio, small tripod and camera bag with USB cable SCA sticker.


Less Than Month Remains For Free Upgrade To Photo Driver's License

Hamilton County Clerk Bill Knowles said that less than a month remains for county residents wishing to upgrade their non-photo driver’s license without cost in the County Clerk’s Courthouse office.
