A mailman said he was on N. Bishop Road when he saw a white male with short brown hair and another with a ball cap walking out of some woods. He said they had gloves on and ran behind a residence.
The mail carrier said the pair came out from behind the residence a few minutes later with items that appeared like guns in their arms. He said they ran through the woods and came out at some apartments up the road. Then they jumped in a white Ford Temp and headed towards Bonny Oaks Drive.
Police checked the rear of the residence and found the rear window by the door had been busted out. The door had then been unlocked.
The owner of the house, Tania Reed, was contacted. She said several guns, gaming systems and cameras were missing.
She said she suspects a relative. She said he had called and asked if she was going to be at work that day and wanted to know what time she was getting off.
A clerk at The Pantry on Amnicola Highway said a black male went to the cooler and took some Hickory Country bacon and possibly some other food items.
Susan Williams said she confronted the man, but he walked out without paying.
A man said he parked his 1988 Chevrolet S-10 in front of Sears at Northgate Mall and went in the mall with his wife for about 35 minutes.
When he came back out, his $300 CD player was missing from his vehicle. He said the S-10 door locks do not work.
M. Hurt said she returned home to Rees Avenue and noticed that some items were missing.
She said she first saw that her TV was gone from her bedroom. She is also missing $900 in cash, a matching diamond cut watch and necklace, a two carat diamond ring, a DVD player, some 20 pairs of jeans, a pair of boots, a Eureka carpet cleaner and a Dell laptop computer.
Mrs. Hurt said she had not been locking her dead bolt because she lost her key. She showed police where someone had pried open the lock.
Linda Martin said someone kicked in her back door on N. Germantown Road and took two jackets.
Phyllis Ballou said she paid for two cartloads of groceries at Wal-Mart on Highway 153. She left one cart inside and took the other one out to her car to unload it.
When she returned to get the other cart, it was gone. A video showed a black female wearing a gray sweatshirt wheeling it out of the store.
Ms. Ballou said the cart contained about $120 worth of groceries.
Mary Couch said someone poured dog food, tomato paste, Spam and various liquids on her 2001 Jeep Wrangler while it was parked at 300 Walnut St.
She said the vandals spelled out the words "slut" and "whore" with the liquids.
She said she was able to wash the offending words off.
