Police Blotter: Disorder At The Brainerd Vehicle Emissions Station

Wednesday, March 01, 2006

A mother and son say the son's former girlfriend tried to hit them with a Jeep, then rammed the Jeep into the son's car.

Amber Wright is facing charges in connection with the incident at the Emissions Testing Center at 5700 Brainerd Road.

Deborah Bradley and her son, David Bailey said they got in an argument with Ms. Wright over some personal belongings.

They said Ms. Wright got into her Jeep and drove toward them. They said they jumped out of the way, then Ms. Wright ran the Jeep into the side of Mr. Bailey's 2000 Pontiac Sunfire, damaging the front driver side quarter panel.

They said Ms. Bradley then stuck her arm into the driver side window of the Jeep trying to get the keys. Ms. Wright put the vehicle in reverse, dragging Ms. Bailey some 10 feet before she finally got the keys and got the vehicle in park. Ms. Bradley said she held the keys until police arrived.

Tammy Prince said she came into an academy at 3847 Hixson Pike and "surprised a black male who was inside possibly looking for something to steal. After seeing Ms. Prince, the blackmale ran from the building and into the woods at the rear towards Forest Highlands Circle."

Academy officials said they had a recent burglary.

A Kmart loss prevention officer said he saw Melissa Belcher conceal some merchandise while in a dressing room, then try to leave without paying.

Ms. Belcher was cited for theft under $500.

A man on E. 23rd Street said he set his money and teeth on the end table next to the couch in his living room. Both later turned up missing.

He said he thinks a little girl may have gotten the money, but he is not sure who took the teeth.
