Chattanooga Lookouts Beat Carolina Mudcats Saturday, 5-3

The Chattanooga Lookouts beat the Carolina Mudcats Saturday night in Zebulon, NC, 5-3. Steve Kelly (3-1) was the winning pitcher.

The Lookouts picked up two runs in the second inning. After Miguel Perez walked, Chris Dickerson drove him in with a double. Dickerson scored on a throwing error by shortstop Rex Rundgren. Lookouts 2 Mudcats 0

The Mudcats tied the game in the fourth inning when they came up with two runs on three hits. Lookouts 2 Mudcats 2

Chattanooga regained the lead in the sixth inning compliments of Aaron Herr’s two-run homer over the left field wall. The home run was Herr’s sixth of the year. He leads the Southern League with 22 runs batted in. Lookouts 4 Mudcats 2

Carolina picked up an unearned run in the eighth inning. Lookouts 4 Mudcats 3

The Lookouts got an insurance run in the ninth inning. With the bases loader, the Mudcats walked in a run. Lookouts 5 Mudcats 3

Jeff Bannon was the only Lookout with two hits; he was 2-for-4 in the game.

With the series even at two-game a piece, the rubber will be played Sunday afternoon.

Lady Mocs Tennis Remains Unbeaten

The UTC women's tennis team posted a 5-2 win over previously undefeated Evansville on Saturday.  The Lady Mocs won the doubles point and four of six singles matches to improve to 3-0 on the season. Wesleyan Rallies In 2nd Half To Beat Lady Scots

MACON, Ga. --Lindsay Haggerty scored 29 points to lead the Wesleyan Pioneers to a 54-42 win over the Covenant Lady Scots on Saturday afternoon in Macon, Ga. Pickup Truck Crosses To Wrong Side Of Hixson Pike: Other Driver Killed

A pickup truck went across Hixson Pike into the opposing lane of traffic on Saturday afternoon, then struck another vehicle. The driver of that car was killed.
