Police Blotter: Woman Stalked By Man At Park By Aquarium

Monday, April 03, 2006

A woman said she was waling at the park by the Tennessee Aquarium when she heard someone coming up behind her. She said she walked faster and got into her silver 1999 Mustang.

She said the man got into a dull red, full-size older pickup truck (possibly a Ford) and followed her from downtown to the Wal-Mart in Hixson, back to downtown, and back to the Wal-Mart before she lost him.

She said he bumped her car twice during the chase.

The only description of the man is a tall black male wearing a dark ball cap and blue jeans.

A man said while he was closing a restaurant at 507 Broad St. a black male attacked him with a plastic lawn chair. He said the man was standing just outside the rear door.

The man at the restaurant said he maced the man who attacked him and then hit the man several times with an expandable baton. He said the two wrestled to the ground, then the attacker ran off.

Brian Love said he was shot at while driving east on Walker Street.

He said the gunshot hit his car. He said he then drove to his business on Glass Street.

Loss prevention at Wal-Mart on Highway 153 said a man was seen removing a lamp from a box and placing a Sony Handycam worth $507 into the lamp box.

The man tried to pay for the item as a lamp, then leave the store.

Security personnel said they struggled with him, but detained him until police arrived. They said the man had been banned from Wal-Mart on two prior occasions. The camcorder was recovered.

David Bowen said while he was working at the Read House, someone stole his HP laptop computer that was inside a backpack.

He said it was taken as he briefly stepped away from his table.

Burglars broke into the State Farm Insurance office on Hamilton Park Drive and took cash from three different boxes ($175).

They pried open the rear door to an abandoned office, then busted a hole in the sheetrock to get into the insurance office.

A young man in Lookout Valley said the car window on his mother's car was busted out while parked at the BI-LO on Brown's Ferry Road. Also, a Wendy's milkshake was thrown on the Nissan Sentry.

The victim said he suspects his girlfriend's ex boyfriend.

A woman on E. 13th Street said a person keeps calling her house and then hanging up.

She said the person called approximately 100 times in a 24-hour period - not saying anything, but only breathing loudly into the phone.

Thank You, Judge Mattice And Chattanooga

I would like to thank Judge Mattice for handing down a 30.5 year sentence for Kathleen Mathews.  Obviously, no amount of jail time, fines, or lashings can bring back Tim Chapin.   A 30-year sentence will, however, make the world just a little safer.  That's what Sgt. Chapin would have wanted.  He was a protector and sacrificed his life so the rest of ... (click for more)

Ah, step into my parlor of first-hand wisdom because, in the School of Hard Knocks, there are priceless lessons that you should know before it becomes your turn to dance. There are two big nerves that sprout out of the ... (click for more)
